The W&M Arts & Entertainment Council was formed to (a) encourage and enable creative collaboration among alumni in the fine arts, performing arts, entertainment, and media industries and (b) identify ways for accomplished W&M graduates to share their expertise with students on campus.  

The Council is open to all W&M Alumni with careers in the fine arts, performing arts, entertainment, and media industries as well as alumni who were active in the arts while at the College. The Council is led by a 30-member that reflects the professional diversity of the A&E alumni and includes Broadway costume designers, television producers, screen writers, directors, choreographers, painters, lighting designers, video game designers, and advertising executives. 

The A&E Council will encourage alumni collaboration and undergraduate engagement in several ways, including: 

• Identifying opportunities for A&E alumni to return to campus and share their experience and expertise with the students; 

• Bringing alumni to campus for guest lectures and master classes; 

• Mentoring W&M students and offering real-world experience through internships and externships; 

• Working with the Cohen Career Center to identify job opportunities for current students in the arts, entertainment, and media industries; 

• Helping alumni working in the fine and performing arts, entertainment, and media industries to network and share professional contacts; 

• Co-sponsoring an annual Arts & Entertainment Conference in Williamsburg that brings accomplished alumni and notable non-alumni back to campus to speak about trends in the performing arts, television, film, music, publishing and advertising industries; 

• Advocating for increased financial support for arts programs on campus and the construction of a proposed Fine & Performing Arts Complex.
