Welcome to the Virginia - Charlottesville-Highlands Chapter!
The Charlottesville-Highlands chapter embraces alums living in a broad area of central Virginia, including Madison, Greene, Albemarle, Nelson, Orange and Fluvanna Counties and the City of Charlottesville and we welcome participation from our neighbors in contiguous counties. Our name reflects both our geography and our heritage, as the home of one of the College's more illustrious alums, President James Monroe, Highland (now called Ash Lawn-Highland) is central to our region and is owned by the College. The chapter celebrates our annual salute and welcome to newly admitted students at Ash Lawn-Highland each June. The Ash-Lawn Highland property provides a park like setting for a picnic and an opportunity to meander through the historical home.
The chapter gives local alums opportunities to renew ties to the college with programs illustrating what's going on in "the Burg". College faculty and officials keep us informed about new facilities and academic programs. Current students keep us in touch with campus life. Social activities provide opportunities to network, to reconnect with old friends and make new friends, spanning generations, who share a thread of common memory, our cherished days as students at the College of William and Mary.
Wondering how you will fit in? Join us for one of the events listed on the calendar. We welcome volunteers to help with our Day of Caring and with chapter events. Let us know if you have ideas that would provide a fun venue for a chapter event. If you are an alum of the College of William and Mary, you're one of us already. To insure you are on our email list, contact us at wmcharlottesvillealumni@gmail.com. Join us as we cheer on the Green and Gold in the land of Orange and Blue.
